Price and scope of work
How to compare two garage quotations
Two amounts are comparable only when they cover the same diagnosis, operations and equivalent part quality. The lowest quote is not necessarily the lowest final cost.
Reading time: 5 minutes
Check what is actually included
Identify the operations, labour time, parts, fluids, consumables, taxes and additional fees. Ask whether initial diagnosis, testing and any electronic reset or adaptation are included.
Compare parts and method
A manufacturer-original part, an equivalent-quality part and a remanufactured part are different proposals. Ask for the reference or quality level, why replacement is recommended and whether a repair alternative was considered.
Control additional findings
Some repairs reveal another fault only after dismantling or measurement. Ask how the garage documents new findings and require your approval before it exceeds the agreed amount or scope.
Consider what happens afterwards
Compare timing, warranty on parts and labour, mobility, documentation and availability if a problem occurs after the work. Keep the quotation, invoice and maintenance evidence with the vehicle records.
